What an exciting time of year for all the graduates of 2011!  I was very excited to meet up with Danielle to capture this very important time in her life.  This gal blew me away with her amazing personality and fun spirit.  The day of her session was her prom….and after the session she was meeting up with all her friends.  It is so fabulous to spend time with a young woman listening to plans of a new journey.  It feels forever ago that I was going to my prom and anticipating becoming an adult to finally have my parents stop telling me what to do…. wow, life was sooo much easier then   I want to congratulate all the grads of 2011.  Enjoy this time in your lives and celebrate your youth, energy and the world at your feet.  Danielle… I had so much fun with you and you are a beautiful gal, both inside and out.  It was a pleasure to be able to capture your enthusiasm and zest for life.  Good luck with all that is before you and don’t forget to reach for the stars.

About 10 years ago, I graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts (not what you think…actually majored in Criminology).  Shortly after that, I started my career as a Probation Officer.  I was so eager, gung ho and boy was I ready to protect the world….  You see, I have always wanted to help others and to give back in some way.  I thought I could do this, and I do believe I did (many times over). 

After I had my beautiful daughter, my perspective and world began to change.  You see, in 2004, I had, what some may say, a near-death experience in my job and boy did it shake my world (still does at times).  I now had this beautiful little girl who needed me and I realized that there was no way that I could continue to do a job that my safety was unpredictable.  I did not want to put any extra risk to not coming home at night.  Those who know me, may appreciate that I care…. A LOT.  I was beginning to feel the affects (physically, emotionally and spiritually) and knew that I needed to do something.  After taking a break and doing some incredible soul searching… I made the scariest decision ever… I “retired”(about 20 years early…lol).  I made the decision that I was going to believe enough in myself and my business to make a go.  I made the decision to follow my DREAM Here I am world!!!

Almost a year into this incredible journey… I am not looking back and absolutely LOVING where my life is going.  I have had so many incredible supporters and cheerleaders (my fabulous husband, parents, friends, old colleagues, my photography buddies and my amazing clients)…..Thank you!!!!   I hired a Dream Coach, Tracey Harper, who has challenged me to believe in myself and that my dream is possible.

Somebody recently told me that I am an “Oprah Story”, I had to giggle, but was really touched.  Perhaps I have a bit of a story, but more than anything, I want my story to be heard.  I do like to babble; however, it is more to put that little spark in you to perhaps find your dream and start living it.  We all have it in us and the potential is there…we sometimes just need a little help and cheerleaders.

I recently came across a workshop that I would love to attend that so fits within this topic.  Miss Jamie Delaine (who is so inspiring, both in her images and as a person) is putting on a Dreamers Workshop in Vancouver in June.  http://workshop.jamiedelaine.com .  I am super excited that I will get to meet this gal at Image Quest happening in Vancouver next week.  She is having a bit of a contest (which is totally brilliant) and will be choosing a winner to attend this workshop (I would love it to be me

Last weekend I was asked to capture a few images for Taste of India.  This was an amazing fundraiser for the  Rotary International Polio Plus Program, as well as the Canadian Cancer Society’s Northern Lodge. I commend all the organizers who volunteered many hours to make this fundraiser a huge success.  The food was INCREDIBLE, the entertainment (music and dancing) was SPECTACULAR!!!  I understand that this will be an annual event and would HIGHLY recommend that you get tickets next year.  Tickets did sell out, so keep your ear open on when they go on sale next year.

This week I want to share with you a venue that I have been working with for the last three years and I have nothing but rave reviews…  The Hart Community Centre is a very classy and unique venue here in Prince George that hosts wedding ceremony’s, receptions, fundraisers, Christmas Parties…well really any celebration.  I have photographed several weddings and other events and  feel honoured anytime I get a call to come up and photograph the decorations and food for an upcoming event.

First, the decorations are INCREDIBLE!!! Miss Erin, has an amazing talent, vision and is a true artist.  The ideas that she comes up with blow me away and are so unique.  I have attached a little video that is going to showcase this gal’s talent.  The hours, sweat (and maybe a few tears) that Erin and the staff puts into each creation is shocking.  Her dedication and passion are truly inspirational!

Secondly, the food….so very very yummy!  I cannot begin to even start describing how talented the catering staff are.  Not only is the food tasty (no bland stuff here), the presentation is beautiful.  I have been to a number of weddings and events at the Hart Community Centre and continue to get blown away at the taste of each dish.  My favorite…the DESSERT!  Seriously people, if you are full after the amazing meal you had…it is so worth unbuttoning those trousers to get a taste of the DESSERT.  The video below will show a few yummy images…you can almost taste it!

I want to thank all (and I do mean allHart video) the staff and volunteers at the Hart Community Centre.  This is a wonderful non-profit organization that gives back to their community.  You all deserve a huge pat on the back for the work that you are doing not only for the community, but for the people of Prince George who are looking for a classy venue location.  All the best!

I had the pleasure of photographing Tristan’s mom’s belly not that long ago, when he was known as “sprout”.  He is one lucky little guy!  His mom and dad are both truly amazing and had me laughing a tonne in both the maternity session and Tristan’s newborn session.  I have a feeling this family is going to be stuck with me for a while…and that is why I love what I do.  Congratulations you two!  You are an incredible family and thank you for asking me to capture this wonderful time.

I never imagined having a “job” that gave me butterflies (the good kind), in my stomach when I think about heading off to start my day.  I owe this all to you…thank you!  I want to thank my family and friends for supporting me in some major decisions I had to make, my photography pals (you all rock!!!), and of course those of you who booked sessions and weddings with me.

I am really excited about what 2011 will bring.  I have a number of folks who are thinking ahead and booking some fabulous sessions with me and already 7 weddings booked for this summer (oh the fun we will have).  I will be introducing a tonne of new products and promotions this year and will be keeping you all in the loop to the fun I am having and sharing some stories of some wonderful people.
